THE OLD PATHS

I liked the old paths, when
Moms were at home.
Dads were at work.
Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married
BEFORE having children!

Crime did not pay;
Hard work did;
And people knew the difference.
Moms could cook;
Dads would work;
Children would behave.

Husbands were loving;
Wives were supportive;
And children were polite.
Women wore the jewelry;
And Men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies;
Men looked like gentlemen;
And children looked decent.

People loved the truth,
And hated a lie;
They came to church to get IN,
Not to get OUT!
Hymns sounded Godly;
Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal;
And crying sounded sincere.

Cursing was wicked;
Drugs were for illness;
And divorce was unthinkable.
The flag was honored;
America was beautiful;
And God was welcome!

We read the Bible in public;
Prayed in school;
And preached from house to house
To be called an American was worth dying for;

To be called a Christian was worth living for;
To be called a traitor was a shame!

Preachers preached because they had a message;
And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!

Preachers preached from the Bible;
Singers sang from the heart;
And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!

A new birth meant a new life;
Salvation meant a changed life;
Following Christ led to eternal life.
Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;

Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
And being a sinner meant someone
was praying for you!
Laws were based on the Bible;
Homes read the Bible;
And churches taught the Bible.
God was worshiped;
Christ was exalted;

Church was where you found Christians
on the Lord's day, rather than in the garden, on the creek bank, on the golf course, or being entertained somewhere else.

I still like the old paths the best!

Washington is a small city in Wilkes County, Georgia where the population was last recorded in 2000 at 4,295 residents. It's a historical city where visitors go to relax and unwind and enjoy the quiet, slow-paced small town life.

2. Woodstock, Georgia

It's a bit bigger than most, but Woodstock, Georgia surely is a peaceful town. With Farmer's Markets and festivals, you'll have to see for yourself why Woodstock has been named one of the top 50 Places to live in the U.S. by Money Magazine.

3. Grovetown, Georgia

Grovetown is a city in Columbia County, and is part of the metropolitan area of Augusta. Not many people know about this small town spot, which is what allows it to be peaceful and calm, not to mention filled with community spirit and a family-friendly vibe.

4. Clermont, Georgia

In 2000, Clermont, Georgia had less than 500 people. This small town boasts big community ties and wholesome families. It's a great place to hunker down with you family and live the simple life.

5. Roopville, Georgia

Raise your hand if you've ever heard of Roopville, Georgia? Not many of us. This small town had only 218 people in 2010, which makes it verrrry quiet for most. But again, the town has a total area of 0.77 square miles, so there isn't really much space to set up shop.

6. Hogansville, Georgia

Hogansville is a city in Troup County, Georgia with a population of around 3000 people. It actually has been called one of the prettiest small towns in Georgia, so in case you've never visited, you'll have to take a trip and see for yourself.

7. Blairsville, Georgia

Blairsville, Georgia is so extremely beautiful and quiet, most likely due to the fact that it's nestled snugly in the mountains. It's the type of town that is absolutely perfect for mountain getaways to enjoy some solitude and serenity.

8. Blue Ridge, Georgia

Blue Ridge, Georgia is home to a beautiful part of the Appalachian Mountain range. Nature and beauty completely encompass this entire town. It is a peaceful spot for folks all over Georgia to come and get away for a weekend. (And then maybe stay forever.)

9. Eatonton, Georgia

Eatonton, Georgia is a quaint historical spot with tons of shopping, dining and historical architecture. With a population of less than 7,000, Eatonton is a great town to get in some peaceful activities.

If you have to get your  parents' permission to go on a field trip or to take an aspirin in school,  but not to get an abortion — you might live in a nation that was founded  by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If you MUST show your  identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check  out a library book and rent a video, but not to vote for who runs the  government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but  is run by idiots.
If the government wants to  prevent stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines that hold  more than ten rounds, but gives twenty F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new  leaders in Egypt — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses  but is run by idiots.
If, in the nation's largest  city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not one 24-ounce soda, because  24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat — you might live in a  nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by  idiots.
If an 80-year-old woman who  is confined to a wheelchair or a three-year-old girl can be strip-searched  by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only  subject to having her neck and head searched — you might live in a nation  that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If your government believes  that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend  trillions more — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses  but is run by idiots.
If a seven-year-old boy can  be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is "cute" but hosting a  sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly  acceptable — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but  is run by idiots.
If hard work and success are  met with higher taxes and more government regulation and intrusion while  not working is rewarded with Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits,  subsidized housing, and free cell phones — you might live in a nation that  was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If you pay your mortgage  faithfully, denying yourself the newest big-screen TV, while your neighbor  buys iPhones, time shares, a wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new  cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his  mortgage — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is  run by idiots.
THINK BEFORE YOU VOTE IN ALL  UPCOMING ELECTIONS. MOST OF THE IDIOTS RUNNING THIS COUNTRY SAY ONE THING  AND DO THE OPPOSITE KNOWING THAT THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED THEM IN DO NOT PAY  ATTENTION
